The Lieutenant is the earliest created by Gene Roddenberry, a American television series. It aired on NBC. It was produced by Arena Productions, certainly one of the most successful inhouse production organizations of the 1960s of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Situated at Camp Pendleton, the West Coast base of the U.S. Marine Corps, The Lieutenant concentrates on the men of the Corps in peace time using a Cold War background. The name character is one of those training instructors at Camp Pendleton, a gun platoon leader and Second Lieutenant William Tiberius Rice. The Lieutenant, an hour long drama explores the lives of enlisted Marines and overall officers .
The Warner Archive Collection launched on DVD in two sets that were half-season the series on August 14, 2012.
