Merlin is just actually a tv miniseries which aired in 1998 which retells the legend of King Arthur from the perspective of the magician Merlin. Sam Neill stars in the title role in a story which covers not only the growth and fall of Camelot but also the period at Britain's mythical history that simplifies it. The movie deviates from more variants of the legend by keeping Merlin throughout the reign of King Arthur over Britain and from incorporating new personalities such as Queen Mab. The movie was accompanied by a movie in 2006, Merlin's Apprentice, which was connected with Arthurian legend.
