Inspector Montalbano can be an Italian television set broadcast and produced by RAI since 1999, dependent on the detective novels of Andrea Camilleri. The protagonist is Commissario Salvo Montalbano, and the stories are put in the town of Vigata, Sicily. In 2012 the show generated a prequel.
