Heartland has been an Australian television drama show that ran on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. It ran to ten episodes and starred Cate Blanchett along with Ernie Dingo. The series was also known as Burned Bridge in a few nations.
Heartland deals with the puzzle surrounding the death of an Aboriginal girl along with the doubts concerning the guilt of her boy friend, who is arrested for her murder. It's also a love story of the people convinced of their innocence--their relationship has to endure betrayal from the white and black communities and also the barriers of cultures, attitudes and their different backgrounds. Place at a tiny coastal town from the turmoils of mystery, murder and romance, Heartland follows the people from the beachfront community and also their battle to restructure their way of life. Their fight to restore their selfesteem towards a future that is positive, despite the barriers in their course.
Plot elements revolve around the character of Elizabeth Ashton, also a writer arriving in a tiny coastal community. A degree of distress exists towards the newcomer who is ignorant of any inherent anxieties. This lets local Aborigine Vincent Burunga to be readily befriended by her. This mix is the local authorities officer Phil McCarthy who attempts Ashton's affections whilst being lent to her friendship using Burunga, maybe not simply as a suitor, but as a result of bias.
