Candy Candy is anime series, manga, and just a Japanese book. The most important character, Candice"Candy" White Ardlay can be a blonde girl with freckles, large emerald green eyes and long, curly hair, worn in pigtails with bows. Candy Candy first appeared in a prose book. When Mizuki combined forces the Western magazine Nakayoshi became curious in Sweet Candy. The show had been serialized as a manga series from the journal for four years and won the 1st Kodansha Manga Award for sh?jo in 1977. The story was adapted into an anime series by Toei Animation. Additionally, there are several Candy Chocolate films which were never released outside of Japan.
