Clara and Alex have two radically distinct parenting techniques as young and recently single parents. While Clara, Alex's helicopter mother, watches over her son Oliver, Emma, Alex's daughter, feels cut off from her father's life. When Alex offers that his marketing company shoot a commercial at the kids' school, Clara, the parent group president candidate, disagrees. Alex's final hope for saving the company is a commercial, so he runs for parent group president. Clara and Alex tie for president, forcing them to work together to lead the club until the re-vote. The furious rivals battle it out for power, outwitting each other every moment they get, until the issue of rearing their children puts everything into perspective. Clara and Alex reach an understanding and even develop feelings for each other.
