A waitress who seems to get bad taste in men, caroline, is on her way home one night when thugs attempt to rape her. Adam, the mysterious busboy who works at exactly the same diner, helps fight the assailants, and she also begins a romance with him -- but not all their Minnesotans are joyful with them. Meanwhile, the couple face their particular difficulties when Caroline finds about the past, including his health state of Adam.
