A young woman (Sandra Bullock) mysteriously disappears, sending her boyfriend Jeff (Kiefer Sutherland) on a years-long quest to get her. Maybe not a good brand new love (Nancy Travis) will keep him out of his obsessive search. All the while, the calculating psychopath (Jeff Bridges) who kidnapped his girlfriend stalks Jeff, eventually taking him throughout the specific same actions that led to the offense. In order to learn what happened, Jeff must put his life in the hands of the stranger that is devious.
