D'Artagnan travels to Paris expecting to be one of those French king's elite bodyguards, a musketeer, only to realize that the corps has been disbanded by conniving Cardinal Richelieu, that secretly hopes to usurp the throne. Fortunately, Athos, Porthos and Aramis have refused to lay their weapons down and continue to secure their king. D'Artagnan and the rogues join to expose Richelieu's plot against the crownmolding.
