One has to think that writer-director Carol Lai had Black Swan ambitions with a story that also revolves on a stage practitioner who starts on an unintentional destructive path while portraying a role worth dying for. The Second Woman, whose Chinese title is Romance Riddle, may provide more insight into how this film evolved, as it was more of a guessing game with constant clues than an overly romantic film about twins falling in love with a man who decides it's perfectly acceptable to string both women along, until he discovers that this spells double trouble.
