A cardinal is arrested for treason against the state. He is a prominent hero of his individuals, for his resistance against the Nazis during the war and his resistance when his country again was up to a totalitarian conqueror. Behind bars, his interrogator is figured out to extract a confession of sense of guilt, and thus damage his power over his people.
