Charlie Castle angers producer Stanley Hoff by refusing to sign a seven-year contract. Castle is sick of the studio's bad movies and wants to leave. Castle's estranged wife supports him, but his agency pushes him to reconsider. Hoff blackmails Castle when he's uncooperative.
