When a renegade military reject (Judd Nelson) puts new superweapons in the hands of a dangerous individual, metallurgist John Henry Irons (O'Neal) resolves to take them all back. Irons is transformed into Steel with the assistance of an electronics genius (Annabeth Gish) and an innovative scrap metal worker (Richard Roundtree). He's prepared to wage war, clad in body armor, carrying a terrifying electrohammer, and riding a motorcycle loaded with gadgets...if only he can figure out how to cure the sudden flaws in his experimental equipment.
