A man and a woman meet by coincidence over dinner at a beautiful inn, and despite the fact that both are married, they find themselves in the same bed the next morning, puzzled as to how this could have happened. They agree to meet on the same weekend each year—in the same hotel room—and as the years pass, each experiences a personal crisis that the other helps them through, frequently without both of them realizing what is happening.
