It's Yorkshire in 1974, and fear, mistrust and also institutionalised authorities corruption have been running riot. Rookie journalist Eddie Dunford is decided to search for the truth in a ever more intricate maze of lies and deceit surrounding the police investigation into a series of child abductions. Eddie along with his colleague persuade their editor to let them research links, when young Clare Kemplay goes missing. But after a body is found in a construction site owned by a property magnate, both Eddie and Barry are attracted into a lethal environment of police brutality and secrecy, intimidation revelations.
