Jenny is a deaf runaway who has recently arrived in San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury area in search of her long-lost brother, a mysterious bearded sculptor dubbed The Seeker by locals. She becomes involved with a psychedelic band called Mumblin' Jim, which included Stoney, Ben, and Elwood. They conceal her from the hordes in their crash pad, a Victorian mansion strewn with love beads and necking couples. Dave, Mumblin' Jim's truth-seeking friend, views the band's pursuit of popularity as "gambling," but decides to assist Jennie nonetheless.
