A tormented kid receives mysterious online assistance from a stranger, who is later revealed to be her recently deceased father, David, whose consciousness has been uploaded to the Cloud after a catastrophic brain scan experiment. David is the first of a new type of creature - a "Uploaded Intelligence" or "UI" – but he will not be the last, as a global conspiracy threatens to spark a new sort of global conflict.
