Ryo Aihara is shy, quiet, and self-conscious. Even though she wants to make friends, she struggles to speak up and hold a normal conversation like everyone else. It appears that whenever she speaks, the words simply do not come out correctly. Ryo has gradually grown accustomed to living in silence as a lonely and introverted student. Ryo doesn't need a cell phone because he doesn't have anyone to talk to. She imagines a cell phone for imaginary phone conversations, and to her surprise, Shinya picks up on the other end. Ryo has found someone with whom she can communicate for the first time in her life.
