NOTHING IS TRUER THAN TRUTH is a feature-length documentary about Edward de Vere, Seventeenth Earl of Oxford, an A-list continental party boy who spent a year and a half in Venice and traveling throughout Europe, learning about commedia dell'arte and gathering the experiences that would become the Shakespeare plays. The film, which was shot in Venice, Verona, Mantua, Padua, and Brenta, includes scenes from THE MERCHANT OF VENICE, OTHELLO, ROMEO & JULIET, and TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA, as well as locations from THE MERCHANT OF VENICE, OTHELLO, ROMEO & JULIET, and TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA. The film features Sir Derek Jacobi, Mark Rylance, Tina Packer, and Diane Paulus, among other Shakespeare scholars, performers, and directors, and contends that De Vere's bisexuality is the reason behind the nickname Shake-speare.
