Hachiman Hikigaya is an unfriendly high school student who doesn't have any friends or a girlfriend. Because of this, he has a skewed view of life. He thinks, "They're a bunch of liars," when he hears his classmates talking about how much fun they had as teenagers. When asked what he wants to do in the future, he says, "Not work." A teacher convinces Hachiman to join the volunteer "service club," which just so happens to include Yukino Yukinoshita, the most beautiful girl in school.
