Vivica A. Fox and Shemar Moore reprise their roles in this suspenseful sequel to Motives that begins up three years after the events of the first film. Emery Simms, an innocent felon, is currently serving time for a crime he did not commit; while the majority of convicts' claims of innocence are flimsy at best, Emery has every reason to oppose his unfair incarceration. Meanwhile, Emery's ex-wife (Fox) has married his best buddy, and the two are attempting to construct a regular life together. When Emery is assassinated in prison and his brother Donovan (Brian J. White) discovers the truth about what killed his unfortunate sibling, his desire to unravel the complicated web of lies and deception that had previously entangled Emery threatens to have fatal consequences.
