Gerry is a gambler whose fortunes begin to change when he matches Curtis, a younger, poker player that is highly charismatic. The two strike up an immediate friendship and Gerry quickly persuades his friend to accompany him on a road trip to a mythical high stakes poker game in New Orleans. While they make their way down the Mississippi River, both Gerry and Curtis manage to end up in nearly every single pub, race track, casino, and swimming hall they are able to find, experiencing both incredible highs and dispiriting lows, but fundamentally forging a deep and genuine bond that will stick to them after their adventure is over.
