In Sunray, a Murray River backwater, residents fish and listen to the radio. Mid-40s, disconnected, thrice-divorced D.J. Ken Sherry arrives from Brisbane to oversee the station. Both sisters next door, Dimity, 20, who works in a Chinese restaurant with few customers, and Vicki-Ann, a hairdresser with a hope chest, find him attractive. First Dimity, then Vicki-Ann spend the night with Ken and decide he's their boyfriend/fiance. Dimity smells fishy.
