Giles De'Ath is a widower who doesn't like anything new. He goes to the movies and falls in love with Ronnie Bostock, who is a movie star. He then finds out everything there is to know about the movie and Ronnie. After that, he goes to Long Island City, where Ronnie lives, to meet him. He acts like Giles likes Ronnie because he is a great actor.
