Longtime Companion follows the lives of a circle of friends by the very first state of the disease in the New York Times from 1981. First known as"Gay-Related-Immune-Disorder," people watch the consequence of the disease as it devastates the lives of the protagonists. Constructed between Fire and Manhattan Island, we are carried by vignettes from the it-couldn't-happen-to-me mentality of the early days of the disease into the effect it has had on all our lives, today. The title of the film originates from the New York Times' refusal to acknowledge homosexual relationships inside their section. Instead, survivors were referred to as"Longtime Companions" of this deceased
