France, 1815. Jean Valjean, a common thief, gets released from jail after 19 years of living in hell, but a tiny error puts the law back on his trail. Inspector Javert pursues Valjean for years, motivated by a perverted sense of justice, but Valjean reforms, prospers, and devotes his life to doing good. In1832, as the French Revolution destroys the streets of Paris, Valjean and Javert meet for the final time.
