Sybil Wren is sued for libeling her fellow dancer Angele after writing a tell-all book about her days in the dance troupe "Barry Nichols and Les Girls." A Rashômon-style narrative tells the story from three perspectives, with Sybil accusing Angele of having an affair with Barry, while Angele insists that it was Sybil who had the affair. Finally, Barry tells his side of the story.
