Set in a forlorn mining town near Valencienne, France, the story is about one man's quest to revive his once-prosperous community and its residents. Philippe Torreton, who earned a César for Capitaine Conan, plays Daniel, a nursery school head in a demoralized town. Daniel is determined to revitalize the area. When a parent who has come to pick up her children collapses due to alcohol misuse, Daniel takes the law into his own hands. Despite town resistance, his efforts are not in vain.
