Chris, an aspiring novelist from England, meets flamboyant cabaret star Sally Bowles just before the Nazis take power in Berlin, and an unexpected friendship blossoms. Chris goes along for the ride as Sally indulges her lavish desires, until their Jewish friend, Fritz, runs into problems.
