In today's artist Tom Warshaw recalls his traumatic coming-of-age. Like a 13-year-old growing up in New York City in 1973, Tom hangs outside with Pappass, a mentally disabled person. The younger boy is left to their devices, with Tom's mother combating depression following the passing of her spouse. Pappass feels begins behaving erratically and abandoned when Tom develops a crush schoolmate Melissa.
