Lacy has always been close to Hope. Hope, on the other hand, has been worried about Lacy since her divorce from her husband. So Hope is ecstatic when Lacy brings home Cassie, a new friend whose parents have recently separated. Lacy and Cassie become fast friends. However, when Cassie begins to put a rift between Lacy and her mother, Hope begins to doubt whether Cassie is the godsend she had hoped for.
