Several thieves take a scroll that bestows ownership of the Aurocastro land in Apulia on the bearer (south of Italy). They choose a shaggy Norcian knight named Brancaleone to lead them, and they resolve to take control of this purportedly prosperous territory. There will be a lot of adventures along the way.
