A comprehensive exploration of the life and work of Venice's renowned view-painter, Canaletto, is the opening title of EXHIBITION ON SCREEN's fifth season. Giovanni Antonio Canal, best known by his pen name Canaletto, is the only artist who truly portrays the spirit and beauty of Venice. The impressive collection of more than 200 paintings, sketches, and prints on view provides a unique window into the creativity of Canaletto and his contemporaries as well as the city he became an expert at depicting. The movie also gives viewers the opportunity to visit Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle, two official royal homes, to discover more about the artist and Joseph Smith, the man who introduced Canaletto to Britain.
