Herzog along with cinematographer Peter Zeitlinger go to Antarctica to capture footage of the unique locations of their continent, and to fulfill individuals who work and live there. Herzog's voiceover narration explains his film will not be a standard Antarctica film about"fluffy penguins", but will explore the fantasies of their people and the landscape.
