A young artist named Jean-Michel Basquiat, who needs to gather money to retake the apartment from which he has been evicted, spends a day in the life of the character in the movie. He is seen wandering the downtown streets with a painting that he hopes to sell while running into pals whose life (and performances) we get a glimpse of.
