Mike Harper (Rod Taylor), an American sent to conduct business in England, and his wife Janet relocate to the country (Doris Day). She soon becomes persuaded, though, that Mike is after Claire, his attractive new assistant (Leon Askin). Mike has also spent extensive time with his British bachelor friends. Claire, frustrated and lonely, employs Paul (Sergio Fantoni), a lovely antiquities expert, to decorate the Harper residence and perhaps make Mike envious in the process.
