He meets Savannah afterwards he sneaked to the sea to regain the bag which had fallen off a pier of Savannah while Sergeant John Tyree is currently home on a couple of weeks leave from Germany. John eventually falls in love with Savannah, who promises to write to him until he returns from overseas.
