Lewis, a young amateur theater director, is given a position with a government program rehabilitating mentally ill people in a Sydney facility. His effort is derailed by one of the patients, who want to present Mozart's opera Cosi Fan Tutte despite the fact that none of the patients can sing or speak Italian. A comedy of mistakes develops, but one that unexpectedly unites the patients and their director.
