Tony Costas, a boisterous, rude, sexist, and racist Detroit cop who has long since abandoned the rules, is assigned to work with Inspector Fuji, a straight-laced Japanese police officer. Fuji is in Detroit looking for a Japanese engineer who has traveled to the United States with ideas for a top-secret automobile component. Naturally, the couple clash at first, but as the investigation progresses, they grow dangerously near to tolerating one another's presence.
