Michel Simon delivers one of the most iconic performances in cinematic history as Boudu, a Parisian vagrant who commits suicide by jumping into the Seine and is rescued by a wealthy bookstore, Edouard Lestingois. The Lestingois family chooses to take in the uncontrollable bum, and he expresses his appreciation by shaking the home to its foundations. With Boudu Saved from Drowning, the great director Jean Renoir utilizes a variety of Parisian settings and the anarchic charisma of his lead actor to create a vivacious parody of the bourgeoisie.
