Yellow Tanabe wrote and drew the manga Kekkaishi, which is about supernatural things. From 2003 to 2011, Shogakukan put it out in parts in the manga magazine Shnen Sunday, and Viz Media got the rights to put it out in English in North America. It was turned into a 52-part anime series by Sunrise, which ran from October 2006 to February 2008. Yoshimori Sumimura and Tokine Yukimura come from rival families of kekkai users, and they have to protect their school from the spirits that are drawn to the sacred land on which it is built. Kekkaishi received the 2007 Shogakukan Manga Award for sh?nen manga.
