He expresses his opposition to nuclear weapons by refusing to play baseball, costing his team a Little League game. Smith, played by NBA star Alex English, a fictional Boston Celtics player, chooses to join the boy's protest by resigning from professional basketball. This provides it national exposure, prompting additional professional athletes to join the anti-nuclear weapons demonstration. The film approaches a climax when the President of the United States meets with Chuck personally, praising his resolve but also addressing the actual problems of disarmament. Meanwhile, sinister powers pose a threat to Amazing Grace's and Lynn's lives.
