Executive George Dupler loses his temper and gets demoted to the night manager position at a 24-hour convenience store. Cheryl attempts to seduce George when he proposes to his adolescent son Freddie that he end his affair with suburban housewife Cheryl Gibbons, who is a distant cousin. At home, in front of his mother, Freddie accuses his father of stealing his girl after he discovers Cheryl feeding George a dinner in the middle of the night while her husband Bobby is on duty at the fire station. George subsequently divorces Helen, leaves his job, relocates to a warehouse, and invites Cheryl to join him.
