When Kata, a middle-aged woman, realizes that her life can only be complete if she has a child, her long-term but married partner Joska refuses to cooperate. By forging an unusual friendship with the angst-ridden young orphan Anna, who is also in a contentious relationship, Kata finds aspects of herself and her function as a woman that had remained unexplored during her entire, solitary life.
